Shang Hai

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go to Shang Hai for an Urbanism workshop. The Workshop was intended as a think tank to help answer the question of what to do the Shang Hai Expo Site once the expo closes in Late October. We were split into groups with a mix of Chinese, Italian, Korean, Norwegian and British students. Each group had there individual tutor which in some case inhibited the groups development, it would have been more interesting to let the students develop fully there own ideas.

Below is an image of the masterplan we produced, as well as some photo's of the final presentation held in the Venice Pavilion at the Expo.

Young Vic Tunnels

Drawing 01

Initially I planned on filming a squat in an old council estate in Tower Hamlets. I was drawn to the building as the artwork on the building (made by its residents) had made it into something much more interesting that your typical 60's council block. Unfortunetly on my planned day of filming, I found out the building had been demolished way back in March, there wasn't even any rubble to film, just some hoarding around a piece of grass.

I decided to look for another piece of architecture that I like for the same reason.. This led me to the "Banksy Tunnel" in Waterloo where again a seemingly mundane piece of architecture has been transformed and turned into a spectacle, I wanted this to be the subject of my short film.

I have tried to show the process I went through in Drawing 01.

Made after my film edit, the film transformed into something slightly different. I was filming with Jonathan Gales and we managed to get access to the Young Vic Tunnels where they were setting up an exhibition. It was pretty cool just walking around the space as they were setting up the show, it was like a building site... Technically I learnt how to track cameras and place modelled 3D object convincingly into real footage. I will post the film tomorrow.

More Z Brush & Texture Tests

I have worked out my workflow between Max and Z brush, and started my first attempts and texturing the skin. Still looks a bit to CG'y there are some amazing examples on the web but no tutorials. Next i will try and animate the characters facial expressions.

Z Brush Test

I've been trying to learn Z brush, to help add more detail to some of my model.I found this portrait on Flickr and i have been trying to remodel. The next step is to try and animate the face whilst retaining all the detail of the wrinkles, and skin. I haven't applied any texture yet Everything is in 3D.
