U-Turn

I felt i was struggling with the idea of the pirate broadcasting centre. I couldnt really justify or clearly articulate how i got to that programme. I felt because it was such a cool site i was trying to find a programme to fit into as opposed to following my initial concepts and ideas. I have not completely dismmissed the concept but i wanted to exploe further my early ideas of the panopticon city/cctv state.

This was my initial site, i chose it because of its scale, central location, in the heart of the city and because in is currently under construction. This gives me an interesting platform to adjoin unto.

Early Concepts

I touched on ideas of pirate broadcasting in my last crit. The site on Cotall Street is covered in anti capitalist murals. I thought this was genius considering in proximity to Canary Wharf.. A possible programme could be to broadcast a local Pirate TV station, run by the residents of the building. The television could be broadcasted on the soon to be clear analogue waves, when the larger more official broadcasting channels switch entirely to digital..Improvements to social areas could also be part of the programme, emphasising the fact that this is a community...These are some initial sketch concepts.
